Earth surface processes (Fluvial geomorphology; Quaternary climate variation)
Geohazards (earthquake, coastal storm, tsunami, flooding)
Earth surface process; Researchers; Montri, Vichai, Sumet, ParisaMeandering system of the Mun River
One of the major River on the Khorat Plateau displays spectacular meandering system. The Mun River floodplain includes meandered scar, oxbow lake, series of point bar.
Earthquake; Researchers; Santi, Montri, PunyaSoutheast Asia Mainland
We are getting closer to the high accuracy prediction of earthquake in Southeast Asia mainland.
Paleo-climate project; Researchers; Akkaneewut, Sakonvan, VichaiHunting for pre-historical records of tsunami
We keeps working on finding the geological proxies of paleo-tsunami along the Andaman coast. Our project will extend to some more coastal environment of Southeast Asia.
Cave and speleothems; Researchers: Sakonvan, AkkaneewutPaleo-climate
International teams working on records of paleo-climate in cave and speleothems
River geomorphology; Researchers: Montri, Sumet, Vichai, ParisaFlooding analysis
Rapid increasing of sediment inside river embayment favors for rapid development of mid-channel sand bar. The condition that makes river shallower and rapid overbank flooding during rainy season.
Ancient storm surge; Researchers: Sumet, Montri, VichaiSubsurface sedimentary records
We are hunting for geological proxies of ancient storm in swale environment. The aim is to develop criteria for distinguishing unusual events
Paleo-environment; Akkaneewut, Kantapon, MontriQuaternary stratigraphy
Sediment stratigraphy of Cenozoic records of paleo-environment provides a clue to biodiversity and paleo-climatology
Thai-Germany southern Thailand fieldtripBang Berd coastal sand dune
Group of professor and students from Friburg University, Germany joined coastal and geological fieldtrip to southern Thailand in March 2018.
Geoarchaeology fieldtripKrabi and southern Thailand
We (University of Tsukuba and Chulalongkorn University) visited archaeological sites (rock sheltered and cave) at Krabi, southern Thailand where stone tools were reported.

The most beautiful pot-holes in the world, Sam Phan Bok, Mekong River, Ubon Ratchathani, Thai-Laos border25 July 2018
Thousands of pot-holes in different shape and dimension have been found at the sandstone basement of Mekong River. Pot-holes are developing with specific mechanism. Sam Phan Bok is one of geoheritate in Thailand and will be promoted as the world natural conservation in the near future
Mashroom rock; spectacular relict of surface erosion in sandstone25 July 2018
Natural features of stack formed by surface erosion provides very good opportunity to recognize sedimentary structures.
